Sushi was pregnant for a total of 38 days! She gave birth on Saturday December 18, 2021 at 11 am in her solidarity delivery tank filled with moss and driftwood that I set up in the video. The 6 hour delivery went smooth (overall) besides the one bugger that was stuck in her halfway for 20 minutes. I kept Sushi away from the main guppy tank so she could recover from the birth without getting harassed by the male/other females. In these two days of recovery, I fed her high protein foods like shrimp, brine shrimp, and omega 1 pellets. I finally got some new guppies! Yesterday I went to my LFS called The Wet Spot Tropical Fish and saw some amazing Koi Tuxedo Guppies! At first, I thought I got two female Koi Tuxedos but turns out one is a plain Koi female (either way I am still happy). I also got a male crossbreed between a Koi Tuxedo and an Endler's livebearer. Hi, everyone! Recently, I have been wanting to feed my fish live foods. I wanted to try hatching my very own brine shrimp eggs but quickly found out through research that most of the hatcheries required other external equipment such as an air pump and heat source. I thought to myself, "how can I achieve the same result (hatched baby brine shrimp) without the hassle of the equipment?" Well, my tank contains all the essential items in order to hatch the shrimp, so I decided to just use what I had, and to my surprise, it worked! I hope you all try this out, it is so easy to do, and it's very fun to watch these little crustaceans hatch. Measurements: 1) 1 2/3 tablespoons of salt per 1 quart of water 2) If the pH is under 8.0 ppm, add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda per 1 quart of water Other Notes: 1. Optimal temperature is 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit 2. I got three new shrimp from PetCo! The species are: 1 Cherry Shrimp (male) 1 Amano Shrimp (female, pregnant) 1 Ghost Shrimp (female, pregnant) Adding shrimp together with Pea Puffers should be done with caution. There have been some cases of Pea Puffers eating shrimp, but it depends on the puffer and aquarium. If you plan on doing this, be sure your tank is heavily planted so the shrimp can escape and hide if necessary. The seed plant I germinated and planted three weeks ago is doing phenomenal (with no CO2)!
